ABOUT
I had a sheltered upbringing. I wasn't exposed to a lot of the world, and my life felt small. The one thing that helped expand my understanding of this world was video games. Games gave me a safe space to learn all about different people and experience things I could never have imagined in my isolated youth. From Zelda on the N64 to Kingdom Hearts on the PS2 to Mercenaries on the Xbox, I had a ravenous appetite for games of all genres, as each and every one opened my eyes to a greater understanding about the world. As I grew up with games, it gave me a place to belong and friends who have been my ride or die ever since the silly nights playing Halo 3 custom games. Since those uncertain beginnings, I've become a teacher, a television graphics engineer, and now a designer.
I believe video games can change the world and bring to people a new perspective and chance to understand each other and this life. I make worlds and games to help all those who grow up feeling alone like I did, giving them a place to be themselves and be all that they can be.
Whenever I am not working, I am usually building Gundam models, watching Netflix, cooking, or playing whatever games catch my eye for being different from the last one I played.
After having to leave most of my models behind I've been slowly working on rebuilding my collection starting with two of my favorites, Char's Zaku II and Unicorn Gundam.
Over the years I've put the work into try and collect as many games as I can. I feel strongly the more games you can play the better you can understand what makes them fun.
An incredibly proud moment for me was getting the chance to speak at GDC about the narrative of a game I love dearly: Tetris Effect.
